Weaving Away the Blues: How Quilting, Knitting and Other Textile-Making Lift Our Spirits

put adversity into perspective and restore energy. U.W. - Eau Claire researcher Dr. Ann Collier will share her
insights into historic and current therapeutic uses of various textile mediums. Copies of her new book "Using
Textiles and Handcrafts in Therapy with Women" will be available for purchase.

The Street: Stylistic Intersections on Jazz's 52nd Street (1920-1945)

The jazz joints along New York City's 52nd Street were the proving grounds for up and coming Swing, Bebop
and Dixieland musicians who made their mark during the 1920s through the 1940s. We'll get to know some of
the renowned artists who frequented the clubs along "The Street" in its heyday.

Daniel Atyim's work explores the function and meaning of surfaces, both observed and imagined. Jill Olm
explores a wide variety of techniques in her paintings, drawings and site-specific works.
ArtsWest 33
February 26 - April 6, 2012
Wisconsin ArtsWest, an annual juried art exhibit, will open on February 26, with an artists' reception to be held
on Thursday, March 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Best of Show and 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be announced at the
artists' reception. The program begins at 7:30 p.m.
Selections for this year's show are made by Peter Spooner, curator at the Tweed Museum of Art, University of
Minnesota-Duluth.
YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
Winter Storytimes
January 9 - March 31
These programs aim to foster a love of reading and provide children and adults with an enjoyable library
experience. Early literacy skills are introduced through great books and fun activities.
No advanced registration is required, but we do ask that you observe our age recommendations. All storytime
programs will be held in the Youth Services Program Room.
Bouncing Babies
Wednesdays
10:15 a.m.
A 20-minute "lapsit" story program for babies and their parent or caregiver. This storytime is especially for
pre-walkers, and consists of lap rhymes, songs, stories, and other developmentally appropriate activities for
those babies who are still held on laps.
Little Movers (Formerly Book Babies)
Wednesdays
11 a.m.
A 30-minute program for babies who love to move. The program includes stories, songs, and finger plays
followed by a social time for parents and babies.
Toddler Tales: There are now 4 sessions to choose from! (All sessions are the same)

A 20-minute storytime designed especially for two- and three-year-olds and a parent or caregiver. Each session

through longer stories and be able to participate in more advanced activities.
Family Storytime: New Day and Time!

Join us for stories, finger plays and songs during this 30-minute program for the whole family. Content is
geared for ages 2 to 6, but fun for the entire family. A craft activity will follow.
Playgroup
Fridays, January 13 - March 30

Youth Services Program Room
Join area infants, toddlers and preschoolers at our weekly playgroup. Various educational toys and library
resources are available. No registration required.
Tumblebooks
Animated picture books that you can read or have read to you are available through our website. Games and
puzzles based on children's literature are also available.

Girls Night Out: Create and enjoy natural spa products

Youth in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to bring their creativity and love of LEGOs and join our
LEGO(r) Club. We provide the LEGOs, you provide the inspiration. Monthly registration is required. Please
register for one date per month. The theme for February is dinosaurs.
