| Notes | 31 August 1924, Max Keefe, of Ladysmith, fired two shots from a revolver at his wife last saturday night and then swallowed a bottle of carbolic acid, dying from the effects of the poison early Sunday morning. The first shot fired at Mrs. Keefe went wild but the second took effect in her face, making an ugly but not dangerous wound. It appears that Keefe was jealous of his wife and when he found her at the depot talking to another man he immediatly opened fire. After the shooting he went to his home and drank the acid and when the officers arrived he was unconscious. The funeral was held Monday. |
