Strength & Remembrance
Ellen Mahaffy
Archival Pigment
“My mother’s trunk contains keepsakes from her relatives and two kids. The table scarf was embroidered by my great-great-grandmother Caroline. The gladiolus, native to South Africa, has cultural symbolism. Remembrance & strength are a couple, as they are often used at funerals and the designated birth month of August. The Latin name gladius means little sword. The overlay is the first page of my great-grandmother’s handwritten autobiography.”
Size: 17″ x 25″
Price: $550
