Fancy Dance 2 Ho-Chunk Regalia

“I was inspired after attending a presentation at Perrot State Park this past summer led by Elliot Funmaker of the Ho-Chunk Nation. He did a Blessing of the Drum Ceremony, then his wife and granddaughter demonstrated some of their dances. I painted from my photographs of the granddaughter demonstrating the Fancy Dance in her regalia. I hope I have portrayed them with the utmost respect and appreciation of the Ho-Chunk Nation’s contributions and sacrifices. I found the movements to be so compelling and tried to capture them with my brush strokes.

I enjoy painting in oil many of the local events and scenery around me.”
