“Since moving to northern New Mexico in 2020 much of my work has reflected the experience of uprooting after over forty years in rural Wisconsin. This abstracted landscape shows the influence of my new home with its beautiful canyons, desert colors, and rocky vistas. But there is emotional content in this painting, too–a feeling of displacement, movement, and change. My techniques involving oil paint mixed with cold wax medium allow for complex layering and textures that reflect the natural environment.”
