Broken and Stolen Boat 1 & 2

“In 1950 I lived near the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. You could rent toy sailboats to push with a stick in a large pool in front of the Palace. My favorite boat was No. 16 and was still there when I visited a few years ago. In 1950 a boy broke a boat, on purpose, and caused a near riot. I can still see him standing defiantly before a policeman and a stunned crowd. In my fantasy he throws the boat into the river. It is found and repaired by chipmunks who sail it back in a “time warp”, during the “Franco-Prussian War.” You can do that in fiction.”
