Getting There
David Williams
watercolor
“I create watercolors that connect us by transforming the ordinary into the sublime, finding the transcendent in the mundane. And in some of these cases by combining images. I use cruelty free supplies such as synthetic brushes. I varnish or wax the watercolors so no glass is needed. This removes the glare and a possible barrier between the artwork and the viewer. Because Art is a conversation, a collaboration. I see art as a form of connection. Art opens itself up to multiple interpretations and lets the viewer invent their own meaning, thus becoming an active participant. Art is by nature mystical and watercolor is especially magical. The way it moves and blends of its own accord. It’s always a surprise and reminds me that control is overrated. I know that when I paint, worries fade away. I enter a state of peace. The process of artmaking is part of my inner journey. My goal is to create an experience where you can lose yourself in my art. — We’re all trying to get somewhere.”
