Mending Needle (8 ½” x 1 ¼”)

Cedar Marie

poplar, paste wax, nylon thread, cork, glass, archival paper, ink otolith bone

“A net needle is used in fishing communities to mend fishing nets; yet also to make new ones. I use this process to explore the potential to heal a personal relationship or to create something new. Instead of a netting card, which helps to support the “backbone” thread in both and old net and the formation of a new one, attached is a small, corked glass bottle with half a love poem inside.”
