“Tabernacle of the Heart is a series of mixed media pieces exploring the inner spaces we carry. Each figure appears out of time, suspended between presence and absence, their forms partially dissolving into the environment around them. Within each of them is a tabernacle, a sacred space that holds a younger self or formative experience. These inner sanctums contain the moments—joys and wounds—that shape who we become. The parts of ourselves that were allowed to grow, carrying curiosity, wonder, or joy forward and those that were protected or constrained, remaining fragile or exiled. The collaged environments surrounding each figure, built from curated vintage papers and imagery, along with artist-dyed and printed papers, reflect the structures that shape us and the ways memory, time, and imagination reconstruct our experiences. Through these works, I invite viewers to reflect on inner landscapes, both their own and those of the people who came before them. The series considers what is carried forward, what is protected, and what is allowed to grow across generations. I am particularly attentive to the ways gender, culture, and circumstance influence which parts of ourselves are nurtured and which must remain hidden.”
