1901-12-24 Crime EA Carter of east side hill tried to burn Lester Bonell & Georg Sypher to death on Otter Creek in Anton Hessell's pavillion near James Ellis' home. Jimmie Ellis is son. Hessel summer house formerly property of Fitch Gilbert who got it from EC Lumber Co. Once used by Schwahn for slaughter house. Hessel converted it into summer house for picnics & rented boats & fishing tackle.

1901-03-05 Federal Building (Old Post Office) Authorities get land on corner of Gray, River, & Barstow for $6,500. Could have gotten it three years ago for $5,000.
1901-03-03 Federal Building (Old Post Office) Bill passed both houses. Congress appropriated $110,000 for EC Federal Building.
1901-02-24 Griffin Rifles Armory (Fourniers?) Griffin Rifles Armory put in charge of Mons Fournier who will fit it up elaborately & open after Easter. Famous building has become historical, many notable revels held here including charity balls. Building gone into disrepair.
