1877-12-01 Music Hall Lit by gas for first time.
1877-12-01 Laundries First-class laundry run by Mr. & Mrs. Hodge, American Laundry 1888. Chinese laundry here in basement of Frawley Building.
1877-11-30 Street Railway Franchise for street railway granted to Amansa E. Swift of Gas Company. Fare to be 10 cents.
1877-10-31 Fires Norden Hall now occupied by Byron Buffington burned. Big fire in wooden stores on Water St. and 4th Ave. (City Drug store, J.F. Ellis law office, Kneer Bros. harness shop, M.J. Argard grocery, Sam Kliener meat market, Eau Claire Lumber Co., flour mill. Loss $50,000 caused by friction in pulley. Engine #2 bungled, could not attach hose.
1877-10-01 Blue Mills John Barron died of apoplexy. Came in 1857. Built flouring mill on Otter Creek with H Clay Williams bought Blue Mills & sold flour mill. Hard times came & Co. formed to purchase mill now called Badger State Mills. He was in mercantile business at death.
1877-09-30 Street Railway Question of street railroad from depot to Shaw town is being agitated.

1877-07-31 Minnietta Sank in 5' of water at Rumsey's Landing. She had been in use only 14 days after being repaired form hole made by logs.
1877-07-31 Lumbering Most mills shut down, no logs, dry spring.
1877-07-01 Amusements Many went to St. Paul for game between White Stockings of Chicago & Red Caps of St. Paul.
1877-06-30 Gas Company EC Gas Co. will lay 5 miles of pipes upon the principle streets. Will employ 60 to 75 men up to November 1.

1877-06-30 Porter's Mills--Northwest Lumber Corporation Porter bought out interest of partners in farm at mill of Northwest Lumber Corporation and erected large dwelling there. 1878 has telephone between mill and office.
