County Board voted to change name of new town from Randall to Union. Voted to sell Chippewa bridge to city. 1871-01-01 Blue Mills John Barron of Blue Mills started construction of a flume to extend from his mill pond to the bank of the river. Logs are to be raised from river to flume by a car. This will give Blue Mills safest log reservoir on river & large enough to hold two seasons sawing.

1871-01-01 Marston's Hall (also called Weber's Hall) Weber's Hall destroyed by fire. Weber's block better known as Marston's Hall. Old Post Office was in it.

Will have 400 boxes & 200 drawers. Present employees are Charley Hays, James Williams, BF Rounds & JC Bartlett. All will be replaced.
