Summer Library Program
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is your summer program shorter this year?
We are excited to be packing up and moving back to the library’s newly renovated downtown building later this summer. We need to shorten our Summer Library Program a bit this year to give us time to pack and move. We can’t wait to see you all in the new library building early this fall!
When do I get my prize?
This summer each child and teen that registers for the summer reading program will earn a free forever book. Kids and teens can register for this program and pick up their forever book at the Youth Services desk anytime between June 1 and July 16, 2022.
I printed my reading log at home, do I need to visit the library?
Yes! This summer each child and teen that registers for the program earns their reading prize right away. Please visit the library’s temporary building (2725 Mall Dr) between June 1 and July 16, 2022 to pick up that prize.
Is my child too young for the reading program?
Nope! Kids can start the reading program as early as birth. Kids who are not yet reading independently can be read to by a parent, caregiver, or older sibling.
Can I bring my large group (daycare, camp, etc.) to the library this summer?
Sure, the library is open to all! If you have a group of 20 or more, it may help to call and give us a heads up (715-839-5007). Our temporary space has limited seating, and the library staff can give you information about what is happening on particular days which can help you make decisions for your group.
We will also be offering programs offsite this summer, which may work great for your group. Join us at Phoenix Park on Wednesday mornings for performers, the BookBike, and the Dabble Box. Or find us at Owen Park on Friday mornings for storytime and the BookBike. See full schedule.
My child is entering 5th grade this coming fall. Can they participate in the teen reading program?
Our teen reading program is reserved for kids entering grades 6-12 in Fall 2022. Find more information about the reading program for kids entering 5th grade and under here: www.ecpubliclibrary.info/teens/summer-2022/

What ages are your storytimes for?
Our storytimes this summer are planned for kids ages 2-6, but we welcome the whole family to attend. We have tons of fun at Storytime!
Our family forgot to pick up our prizes. Can we still get them after July 16?
Unfortunately due to the fact that we will be packing and moving later in the summer, we are unable to give out prizes after July 16.
When are you moving back downtown?
We are excited to be packing up and moving back to the library’s newly renovated downtown building later this summer. We can’t wait to see you all in our newly renovated building sometime in early fall.
Do you have any virtual programming this summer?
Our only virtual program this summer is on Thursday, June 30: Book Scouts – Virtual Show and Share.
Where is the library patio?
As you are looking at the library, the library patio is to the left. It is just to the left of the employee door, under the overhang.
What happens when my child completes their summer reading goal?
Congratulations! This summer each child/teen picks up their reading prize when they register for the program because we are going to be moving later this summer. When your child completes their summer reading goal, we encourage you to do something to celebrate like go for a picnic or enjoy a sweet treat. You can also email us a photo of your child(ren) with their completed reading logs and we might feature them on our website or social media. ysstaff@eauclaire.lib.wi.us
Is there a cost to any of the programs this summer?
Nope! All programs and events have no cost for the participants. Yippie!
Do we need to register for any of the events?
Some programs like Storytime, DIY Discovery, and Wednesday Performers have no registration required. Some events like Book Clubs and Teen events do require registration. Please check the website for more information about each specific event. www.ecpubliclibrary.info/kids/summer2022
Can we participate in the reading program a second time this summer if we finish early?
We are so glad you reached your reading goal this summer! We are not able to allow kids and teens to participate in the program more than once per year due to the limited supply of prizes. You are very welcome to set a new goal and keep reading all summer long!
