Calling all families with babies!

Do you have a baby in your life? We have a storytime just for you!

What

The library offers Bouncing Babies and Little Movers Storytimes. Both storytimes feature songs, rhymes, lap bounces, a unison read book, bubbles, and other activities such as parachute or dancing with your baby. After both storytimes we bring out baby-appropriate toys and invite families to stay for a baby play group and social time for adult caregivers.

When

Bouncing Babies is on Mondays, and Little Movers is on Tuesdays. Both start at 10 a.m. and are about 20 minutes long. No registration is required, so feel free to pop in whenever your schedule allows! See our full storytime schedule for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and the whole family.

Who

Bouncing Babies is intended for pre-walkers, approximately 0-12 months. Little Movers is intended for babies on the move, approximately 12-24 months. Bouncing Babies is a relaxed gathering with a lot of face to face interaction between baby and caregiver, while Little Movers is an active storytime with built in music and movement activities. No matter your baby’s developmental stage or activity level, you are sure to find a good fit for them at one of our storytimes. Still not sure which baby storytime to pick? Feel free to try both and see which storytime is better for your family.

Questions?

We hope that you and your baby come and try out a baby storytime very soon! If you have questions, our staff is always here to help. Please call 715-839-5007 or email ysstaff@eauclaire.lib.wi.us. If you know someone with a baby who may like to join us, please help us spread the word!

Elephant and Piggie PARTY!

Calling all Elephant and Piggie fans for an Elephant and Piggie PARTY!!

We’ll enjoy storytime at 10 a.m., followed by self-paced games, crafts, and snacks. Get your cameras ready, as Elephant and Piggie will be making an appearance live and in-person!

Have you read all the books in the series? Find them here!

Have you read them all 10 times and need something different? Check out these playful and just-as-loveable Elephant and Piggie read-alikes.

While Elephant and Piggie and Pigeon may be his most popular characters, Mo Willems has other books that your child is sure to enjoy. Check them out!

Come and join us!

That’s right, folks! In-Person storytime* returns at 10 a.m. on Mondays, July 12 – August 9 at Owen Park (1st Avenue) near the playground. Enjoy playful stories, songs, rhymes, and movement. This storytime is great for families with children ages 0-5, but the whole family is welcome. No registration required.

Safety: We ask that kids stay with their adults to help with social distancing. We’ll mark off sitting areas to help ensure enough space between groups of attendees. We highly encourage wearing masks while in large groups, even at outdoor events such as Storytime in Owen Park.

Important! If you are experiencing COVID symptoms, please stay home. If possible, consider attending our virtual Storytime.

Extra! Extra! Our BookBike will also be in Owen Park near the playground on Monday mornings (9 a.m. to noon) and our Dabble Box staff will be on hand to offer creative play and projects such as coding and robotics, water coloring, button making, and more. While you’re at it, enjoy a story while you stroll through Owen Park with our new, permanent StoryWalk®.

Librarian reading book during Storytime

Storytime is back!

Our Youth Services librarians are back online, bringing families stories, songs, and storytime magic to foster of a love of reading and promote the development of early literacy skills.

From June 7 – July 28, we will offer interactive storytime on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. on either Facebook Live (Mondays; no registration required) or Zoom (Tuesdays and Wednesdays; registration required). Find all the details here: https://www.ecpubliclibrary.info/kids/storytime-online/

Check out a summer Storytime Kit! Packed with activity scarves, music makers, bubbles, song and rhyme sheets, and other items, our Baby/Toddler Storytime Kits and Family Storytime Kits are designed to enhance your storytime experience and provide continuous opportunities for early literacy fun at home. It is not necessary to have a Storytime Kit to participate, but it does up the fun factor! Pick up a kit at the Youth Services desk starting Tuesday, June 1, while supplies last.

New this summer! We are thrilled to partner with Family Resource Center to offer “Practical Parenting” facilitated discussions after Baby/Toddler storytime on Tuesdays. A parent educator will present a brief parenting topic and lead an interactive discussion. Come meet other parents, discuss common parenting issues, and get your questions answered.

If you have any questions, please contact Youth Services at 715-839-5007 or ysstaff@eauclaire.lib.wi.us.
