Carol Scott
acrylic
“My name is Carol Scott. My journey into the evolution of my artwork is fairly simple. I’ve always had a creative mindset but really saw it flourish after I retired in 2019. This new chapter in my life gave me the freedom to develop a hobby. Not knowing what that exactly looked like at that time I just began sprucing up outside lawn figurines with a fresh coat of paint. I felt like I brought beauty to something that could have easily been thrown out. From there I started painting rocks which in turn was giving me some creative wings. As a little time went on I wondered if I had the ability to paint on canvas. I didn’t know what I was doing, didn’t know what brushes did what or even what paints to use. So it just began with trial and error. I was slowly starting to see something develop. With each painting I was improving, learning what worked and what didn’t. I began collaboration with locals and introducing my work to the art scene. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I didn’t have any training so I entered a few competitions, to my amazement I won regionals twice with a best in show on another entry. I’m learning that being a part of a community of artists that all support and encourage each other brings out the very best in all of us.”
