Don’t forget! Sign up for our annual Summer Reading Programs and win fun prizes! Kids and teens can sign up at the Youth Services desk on Level 1, while adults can sign up at the Reference Desk on Level 2.

Scavenger Hunts & Prize Bundles

Hidden Gem Scavenger Hunt – Solve riddles and explore all four floors of the library to complete this scavenger hunt. Grab a guide from the Library of Things (Level 1) to begin. Return your completed sheet to the same spot and enter a special prize drawing!

Kids Scavenger Hunt – Stop by the desk in Youth Services (Level 1) to get started on a fun scavenger hunt all over our kids’ areas.

Prize Bundle Drawings – Sign up for one the library’s email newsletters and enter to win one of three “Ye Olde Prize Bundles.”

About the Performers & Activities

Bethany Shuda – Midwest Harp – Hear a local musician specializing in performance and hands-on harp experiences.

Chippewa Valley Irish Dance – Enjoy local Irish dancers offering performances and workshops.

Deborah Robie – Wool Spinning – Learn about wool spinning with a traditional wheel.

General Hardware Border Morris (Folk Dance) – See an area dance troupe performing an English folk dance from Border Morris (a region next to Wales), dating back to at least the 1500s.

Kaiserson Bee Co. – Candle Dipping – Owner Drew of Kaiserson will demonstrate the art of dipping tapered candles. Expect conversation on the process of candle making and honeybees in general.

Kim Sandford – Renaissance Fashion  Enjoy a display of historical costumes and learn about getting dressed in the Renaissance.

Miriam Schwiebert – Fiddle Tunes – Enjoy lively fiddle tunes with a local music teacher/Chippewa Valley Symphony violinist.

Oh Claire Improv – Expect a fast-paced, completely improvised comedy show designed for the whole family! Using audience suggestions, performers create hilarious short-form games and scenes on the spot.

Peter Phippen – World Flutes – Enjoy a Grammy Award nominee/multi-instrumentalist specializing in traditional flutes from around the world.

Todd Johnson – Falconer  Meet a red-tailed hawk and learn how licensed falconers care for and hunt with young raptors.

Torch Sisters – The Chippewa Valley’s own circus troupe! Expect a magnificent array of acrobatic feats and flow arts. (Two outdoor performances and one indoor variety show.)

Red River Fencing – See a local fencing club offering equipment displays sword fighting demonstrations. 

Maker’s Market – Down in the Dabble Box (Level 0), you’ll find demonstrations on candle dipping, wool spinning, and Renaissance Fashion; and you’ll be able to make your own drawstring pouch, braided belt, and/or potion bottle necklace.

Library Card Magic Wand – At the Headwaters Table (all ages) and the Youth Program Room, make a WORKING magical wand.

Outdoor Games – Have fun with pool noodle jousting, giant bubbles, giant Jenga, croquet, and kubb.
