Meet Sam Peskie
What’s a “Maker in Residence?” The Maker in Residence is a person with expertise in making, well, something. Over the course of one month, they will be available to share their knowledge through demonstration and classes. During in-studio hours they will work on a project of their choosing in the RCU Dabble Box Makerspace. It’s a chance for the public to watch them at work, dabble in something new, and pick the brain of an expert.
Our Maker in Residence for November 2023 is Sam Peskie. Sam is an artist, illustrator, and designer currently based in Eau Claire. As a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin–Stout, she is pursuing a creative career concerning children’s books, publishing, and storytelling. Many of the themes in her work concern emotional connection, stillness, productive escapism, womanhood, childhood, and community. Her main goal is to make the viewers of her art feel like they can sit down and rest awhile. Sam is committed to the belief that at any age we have big things to say and ideas to share. Finding the most effective method to communicate that to the world is a very powerful thing.
