Dungeons & Dragons Academy
Thursdays Jan. 18, Feb. 1, & Feb. 15 | 6-7:30 p.m. | Adults & Teens
It’s finally time you learned to play Dungeons & Dragons. Under the guidance of longtime game master James Johonnott, you’ll learn the basics of playing the game so you can conjure up a great time for the whole party.
Geared for adults and teens (ages 15 and up), our D&D Academy spans three separate sessions. We highly recommend attending all three, but it’s OK to catch one or two (things will still make sense). Space is limited and free registration is required. We provide the materials.

Session 1: D-n-Demystify
Thursday, January 18 | 6-7:30pm | Adults & Teens (15+) | Riverview Room (Level 3)
Enjoy a brief history of the game and an overview of its current (5th) Edition. What’s the point of the game? Why’s it awesome? How do I make a character? Why are there soooooo many dice? Fear not—we‘ll get through this together, character sheet in hand.
Session 2: Let’s Get Rolling
Thursday, February 1 | 6-7:30pm| Adults & Teens (15+) | Riverview Room (Level 3)
Delve into the basics of the gameplay. Don’t worry! You don’t need to know EVERYTHING to play. We’ll use the characters you made last time (or ones we’ve pre-built) to engage in simple combat, exploration, and social scenarios.
Session 3: Showing Up to the Party
Thursday, February 15 | 6-7:30pm | Adults & Teens (15+) | Riverview Room (Level 3)
Learn how to make your game sessions great. You don’t need to be an amazing actor or storyteller to have a fantastic adventure, but a few improv tips won’t hurt. We’ll cover ways to build an adventuring group that’s genuinely excited to explore some dungeons together.
