Park & Pickup

Self-Service • Contact-Free • Holds Pickup

“Park & Pickup” is our self-service, contact-free holds pickup service. This procedure offers you a safe and easy way to retrieve your reserved books and materials. Our staff has carefully created this service with guidance from the City of Eau Claire’s risk management team to maximize your health and safety.

How It Works

1. Reserve your materials though the online catalog.

• Don’t worry about selecting a “Pickup at” location. For now, the location for all pickups will be in the library’s lower level lobby.

2. Wait for a notification that your items are ready for pickup.

• If you receive an email notification, it will include a link to the online appointment scheduler. (If you can’t find it, use the button below in step 3.)

• If you receive an automated phone message, return to this page and use the button below (in step 3) to access the online appointment scheduler. (Given our high appointment volume and limited staffing, we thank you for reserving phone calls for those without Internet access.)

3. Schedule your pickup appointment online.

• Pickup appointments are available in 50-minute time slots.

• Slots are available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:50 p.m.; and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:50 p.m.

• Note: While the actual pickup may be done by anyone, adults must call schedule their own appointments. (Only guardians are allowed to schedule an appointment for someone else.)

4. Come to the library.

• Come to the library during your 50-minute appointment window.

• The Park & Pickup area is in the library’s lower level lobby, accessible from our lower level parking lot, using the ramp off S. Dewey Street.

• Masks and proper social distancing are required.

5. Retrieve your items.

• Park in the lower level parking lot and go to the lower level lobby (see image below).

• Find and remove your item(s) from the shelves.

• Important: Your items will be in alphabetical order by your “holdshelf alias.” This is the first two letters of your last name, followed by the first two letters of your first name, followed by your numeric birth month and day. Example: Jane Doe = doja0101.

• Your items will already be checked out. You will not need your library card.

5. Exit the library.

Have you received a notification that your items are ready for pickup?
