What’s in the Water?

Kay Brathol-Hostvet

Mixed media sculpture

“Water is life. Clean water is essential to every living thing on this planet. Since the Industrial Revolution, corporations have been polluting our waters in the name of progress. Thankfully, there are those who have worked to balance industry with environmentalism, and are still working to restore and protect our oceans, lakes, rivers, and groundwater. The 1970s saw the formation of the Environmental Protection Agency, the enactment of the Clean Water Act, the first Earth Day, and the Endangered Species Act. For fifty years, we’ve seen steady progress in the clean up of our waters. Unfortunately, every one of these protections are again under threat with the current administration.”
