Library Issues Call for New Board Members

The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in downtown Eau Claire is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, appointed by the City Council. The terms of three Board Members will be expiring in June, and members of the community are encouraged to apply now for these upcoming vacancies. No previous experience is needed, just a commitment to help the library fulfill its mission to “promote lifelong learning, create collaborative spaces, and support open access to diverse materials and resources to enhance the quality of life in the community.”

Meeting monthly, the Library Board of Trustees has statutorial responsibility for establishing and overseeing the library budget, for creating and updating library policies, and for hiring and supervising the Library Director. The Board has exclusive control of the library’s finances, and also works with the Friends of the Library to supplement library offerings through fund-raising and friend-raising activities.

Anyone who would like to be considered for the Library Board may begin by filling out the Resource Bank Form, available online at the link below. (They must indicate the Library Board as one of their preferred options.)
