Loanable Art at the Library
The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library offers more than just books, it’s also home to a creative and inspiring
initiative that brings art into the everyday lives of our community. Through the Loanable Art program, library patrons can borrow artwork just like they would a book or DVD. It’s a fun, accessible way to engage with local creativity, brighten your home, and support the arts. Whether you’re an art lover or just looking to change up your decor, this program is a unique resource that makes art more available to everyone.
What is Loanable Art? 🖼️
Loanable Art is a special collection of reprinted artwork—paintings, photographs, drawings, and more—that cardholders can check out and take home. The collection features a wide range of styles and subjects, with many pieces created by local and regional artists. Whether you’re drawn to vivid landscapes, thought-provoking abstracts, or cozy still lifes, there’s something to match many aesthetics.
Variety of Media: The collection includes paintings and prints!
Local Talent: Many works come from artists in the Chippewa Valley, giving borrowers a way to support and celebrate the creative spirit of our community.
Flexible Borrowing: Artwork is typically loaned out for three weeks, and can be renewed giving patrons plenty of time to enjoy their chosen piece.
How Does It Work?
Borrowing art is simple! Here’s how to participate:

- Have a Library Card: You’ll need a valid library card to borrow from the Loanable Art collection.
- Browse the Collection: Art is displayed on the second floor of the library and can also be browsed online here.
- Check It Out: Select a piece, and a staff member will help you check it out—just like any other library item.
- Return with Care: When you’re done, return the artwork in good condition so others can enjoy it too.
