Growing up I always loved watching movies, but was also a fanatic about reading a good book! These two hobbies are something that I shared with my father, and I could always count on him recommending a great book to read or being a willing viewer of the latest blockbuster movie. In recent years it seems like these two interests of mine are colliding. Every time I turn around it seems like a new movie is coming out that is based on a bestselling book. Though I’m sure some people view this as a terrible trend, I absolutely love that my two favorite things to do are overlapping!

There are a lot of upcoming films based on books being made in the coming years. A recent article from POPSUGAR lists a total of 100 books to read before seeing them in their movie form. This list features titles such as The Girl on the Train, Me Before You, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and more. … Some of the best conversations I have had were about whether or not the book or movie was better. It is usually hit or miss with me. I’m typically just happy when the movie doesn’t completely ruin the book, whether that be choosing the wrong actor (Robert Pattinson should never been Edward) to going completely off script from the books storyline (Golden Compass by Philip Pullman) However, sometimes movies don’t always stack up to the books. Since most movies have time restrictions, authors who are not limited in this manner have the freedom to include lots of detail about the story and its characters. One of my favorite examples of this is the 3^rd Harry Potter movie (The Prisoner of Azkaban). I actually saw the movie first and absolutely could not stand it and so when I went to read the book I did not expect much out of it. Fortunately I found myself to be mistaken. There were so many details, especially about the back story and the history of the characters, which made it one of the best books in the entire series.
