International Games Week 2019

International Games Week 2019 is almost here! We are excited to be providing nine events this year starting November 4th through Saturday, November 9th. Below is a list of the events we’ll be hosting and the links to their pages for registration if required.

Intro to Cribbage Monday, Nov. 4th, 6-8 p.m.
Dabble Box. Open to all ages. No Registration.
Learn how to play the classic game, Cribbage. We bring the cards and Cribbage board, you bring the curiosity.

Pen & Paper Lite Night Tuesday, Nov. 5th, 5-8 p.m.
Red Cedar Room, Lower Level. Teen to adult. Registration Required.
Come see what this returning gaming trend is all about. Join in an easy-going session of pen & paper roleplaying. Beginner-friendly.

Intro to Playing Card Games Tuesday, Nov. 5th, 6-8 p.m.
Dabble Box. Open to all ages. No Registration.
Learn to play some traditional playing card games.

Interactive Fiction Workshop Wednesday, Nov. 6th, 5-7 p.m.
Dabble Box. Teen to adult preferred. Registration Required.
Ever wanted to turn your story into a video game? Maybe you just want to tell a story using a more modern and highly popular method. Participate in the Interactive Fiction Workshop to get some ideas on how you might be able to create a simple text-based video game. All levels of writing and technology experience are welcome. Click here if you would like to see some of what we’ll be working on.

Putt Putt Golf Wednesday, Nov 6th, 5-9 p.m.
Reference Area, Second Floor. All ages welcome. No Registration.
Who hasn’t wanted to play a sport in the middle of the library? Come test your putting skills through our recycled book putting course.

Video Game Olympics Thursday, Nov 7th, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Dabble Box. All ages welcome. No Registration.
Join in our time-based competitive video game event. Show your gaming prowess. Or not. It’s all about having fun!

Adult Game Friday, Nov 8th, 6-8 p.m.
Brewing Projekt (1807 N Oxford Ave). 21+ Only. Registration Required.
Have you heard about the popular adult-oriented party gaming trend with games like Cards Against Humanity or What Do You Meme? and haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing it? Maybe you have participated and can’t pass up the opportunity for the laughs and cries guaranteed to be had. Join a couple of librarians at the Brewing Projekt to find out what the fuss is about.

Pen & Paper with a Pro Day Saturday, Nov 9th, 1-4 p.m.
Red Cedar Room, Lower Level. Teens and adults only. Registration Required.
Our wonderful volunteer, Dungeon Master Mike, is running a pen & paper roleplaying game for teens and adults. He has been running pen & paper games for many years and is sure to bring the genuine experience that tabletop roleplaying has to offer.

Intro to Go Saturday, Nov 9th, 2-4 p.m.
Dabble Box. All ages welcome. No Registration.
If you thought chess was old, think again. Go has a history dating back nearly 4000 years in Ancient China. Come grab some “stones” and capture some territory in the oldest known board game in human history.
