Get to Know BadgerLink

September 26, 2022/in Blog, Library Services, Special Interest/by Stephanie, Reference Services

The library provides access to a lot of useful online resources you might not be aware of – there are so many that even library staff sometimes forget! Don’t believe me? Just check out our website’s Explore page.

Today, though, I’m going to highlight one particular collection of resources: BadgerLink.

BadgerLink is an online resource library provided by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and serving all Wisconsin residents. Their goal is to “form a foundational collection of lifelong learning assets available to all Wisconsin residents across race, gender, ethnicity, language, disability, sexuality, family background, and/or family income or affiliation with a library, K-12 school, institution of higher education, or employer”. In other words, they’ve got something for everyone.

From newspapers to auto repair to educational tools for all ages, BadgerLink’s got you covered. Browse their full list of resources or check out some of these commonly requested databases to get started.

  • Consumer Health Complete: Consumer-oriented health content, from mainstream to holistic medicine
  • Consumer Reports Magazine: Full-text PDF version of the popular consumer magazine

*Note that this resource provides access to the Consumer Reports Magazine, but not to the Consumer Report website. Check this index to find which issue you need.

  • EBSCO: Online research platform with reliable, peer-reviewed content
  • HeritageQuest Online: Comprehensive treasury of American genealogical sources
  • U.S. Newsstream: Current and archival to the 1980s, U.S. news featuring key national and regional sources including The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, Newsday, and Chicago Tribune as well as over 80 Gannett titles

Not finding the resource you need? We can help! Contact Information and Reference staff at 715-839-5004 or reference@eauclaire.lib.wi.us.
