What Should I Read Next?

August 28, 2017/in Blog, Library Services, Staff Picks/by Michaela, Technical Services

Have you ever finished reading something and thought “I wish I could read more books like that one.” Well, you are in luck! Below you will find tips on discovering your next favorite read.

Ask Information & Reference

One of the first steps you can do in your quest for your next favorite read is to ask library staff. We are always willing to suggest new titles for you to explore. It is one of my favorite parts of the job! Not in the library? Visit our Readers Corner page to fill out our Personalized Reading Suggestion form and let us send you new titles and authors you may like based on your reading preferences.

Start tracking what you read

Use websites such as Goodreads.com to start tracking your reading history. If you are anything like me, you have a hard time remembering what you’ve read. This tool will not only help you remember but will help you keep track of your favorite titles and authors as well. Goodreads will also offer you reading recommendations based on the star ratings you give books.

Check out NoveList Plus

This is a resource that is free to you through the MORE Online Catalog. NoveList Plus is a database for your fiction and non-fiction needs. It is a trusted source of expert read-alike recommendations. You will find suggestions based on titles or authors you have enjoyed in the past, titles based on your favorite genres, or even titles based on your current reading mood.

Book Links & Best of Lists

If you haven’t noticed the Book Links that are displayed near Information & Reference, you can check them out at our website. Discover title and author suggestions in these genre themed guides. Also, don’t forget to check out the Best of Lists on the bottom of the Readers Corner webpage.
